Engagement Engine 101

The takeaway: After reading this, you’ll know the basics of the Engagement Engine.

Every search creates a Brief. It gives you the research, message ideas, and sources all in one place.

People briefs vs. company briefs

People briefs vs. company briefs

There are two types of Briefs. You can choose between People and Companies at the top of the Engagement Engine.

People Brief helps you research and understand an audience based on factors like location, occupation, income, and age.

Company Brief helps you research publicly traded and privately held companies using information such as company name and location.

Both Briefs have three tabs: Context, Engagement Angles, and Sources.

Context

People Brief

Built around an audience segment instead of a business.

Profile Analysis: Highlights the key themes that matter to this specific group based on their profile and demographics. It explains what these themes could mean for the group, why they may be relevant, and what you may want to bring up in a conversation.

Signals: Real events that may be relevant to this group based on the themes in their Profile Analysis, such as a tax change, recent viral social media posts, local news, and more. Each signal is based on a real event and includes when it happened.

Profile Analysis tells you why it matters and what you could say. Signals tell you what happened.

Company Brief:

Built around a specific company.

Company Overview: A quick look at what the company does, where it's based, how large it is, and whether it's public or private.

Employee Financial Profile: An overview of the financial lives of people who work there, including salary, bonuses, stock, benefits, and common financial needs. This helps you understand what employees at the company may need help with.

Market Signals & News: Recent news about the company, with the source and date included, so you can see what's happening now.

Financial Highlights: Key information about how the company is performing financially and what's happening in its industry.

Industry Context: What's changing in the company's industry and how those changes could affect the company and its employees. You'll also get ideas for how to bring these topics up in a conversation.

Culture & Values Signals: Information about what it's like to work at the company, including its work environment, benefits, and company culture.

Challenges & Opportunities: What's happening at the company right now, including challenges that could affect employees and areas where you may be able to help.

Together, these sections help you understand the company, its employees, and what may matter to them, so you can have more relevant conversations.

Engagement Angles

Custom messages created from your Brief. They're organized by Prospecting, Re-engagement, and Meeting, with a short explanation of why each message works. Use them to start more relevant conversations.

Sources

The articles and data used to create the Brief, with links to the original sources. Use it to check where the information came from or read the full article for more details.

Finding people on LinkedIn

Every Brief has a LinkedIn button that lets you find relevant people on LinkedIn. The search is built from your Brief, so you can quickly find people who match your search or work at the company you're researching.

Saving and managing briefs

Click Save Brief to save a Brief for later. Your saved Briefs will appear in Saved Briefs, where you can view or delete them anytime.

The Engagement Engine gives you the research you need to find the right people, start better conversations, and save time. Every insight is backed by a source and based on up-to-date information.
