Signals 101

The takeaway: After reading this, you’ll know the basics of the Signals feature.

Signals help you stay up to date when something important changes at a company or among the people you’re researching. The Engagement Engine looks for relevant updates based on the companies and audiences you search.

Find signals to track

Signals start with the searches you run in the Engagement Engine.

Search for the audiences, people, or companies you want to find opportunities around. As you search, Habits looks for relevant developments connected to those searches.

View your signals

Open Signals in the Habits app to see recent updates connected to your searches.

Each signal includes:

  • What happened: A short description of the update.
  • When it happened: How recently the update occurred.
  • Company: The company connected to the update.
  • Why you're seeing it: How the update relates to something you previously searched for.

For example, you might see updates about a company raising funding, announcing layoffs, changing its outlook, or making another significant announcement.

Research a signal

When you see an update that's relevant to your work, click Research.

This lets you dig deeper into the company and the update so you can better understand what happened and decide whether it's worth reaching out.

Dismiss a signal

If an update isn't useful, click Dismiss to remove it from your active signals.

This helps keep your Signals page focused on updates that are more useful to you.

Mark something as not relevant

If a signal isn't relevant to you or your work, click Not relevant.

This gives you a quick way to separate useful updates from things you don't want to act on.

Get notified when something changes

You’ll receive notifications to your emails when Habits finds a relevant update connected to the companies and audiences you’re researching. That way, you can stay informed about important changes without having to constantly check for them yourself.

That’s the whole process: Search for the companies and audiences you care about, and let Signals notify you when something important changes. Use those updates to find timely reasons to reach out and start more relevant conversations.
